Walk Score - how walkable is the home you listed for sale?

A fellow Richmond BC Realtor Jay Banks at Re/Max Crest Realty shared his "Walk Score" discovery on a Vancouver Blog that I stumbled upon. I am not sure if this gadget has been introduced to AR members by someone else before.

It is called Walk Score. It helps people find walkable places to live. Walk Score calculates the walkability of an address by locating nearby stores, restaurants, schools, parks, etc. Try this out with your own address and see how walkable is your address or try this on one of your listings.

In a rural area like I am in nothing is walkable.  It would be great to not have to drive everywhere with the price of gas.  In fact gas prices should be a major beef on this post board.

Yes, walk score is real a good idea! But how often do we walk nowadays? I have found one more service called drive score at http://drivescore.fizber.com/ With it one can see how close
establishments are by car. Homes are often located in an area where restaurants, libraries, grocery stores, hospitals and other businesses are easier to get to by car than on foot.

Thanks for your link Karolina. It is true that we drive more than we walk nowadays. Definitely we are driving more than walking to the reatuarants, shopping malls, stores, etc. and your link on "drivescore" will be helpful for home buyers or renters interested to find out how accessible such establishments are from their homes.
