Any Advice On Choosing A Real Estate Website And Host?

There are many choices for web-design and web-hosting services. I am interested in getting a domain for my real estate web-site that has the "navigation side bar", "blog rolls", "tags" and "blogging" functionality.

Wordpress themes have most of the above requirements and the hosting of a wordpress website is very affordable. Should I go with wordpress or other website hosts like Point2 NLS, Real Estate Webmasters, Uberto or other good recommendations?

Your comments and advice are much appreciated.

I like both.  I find wordpress is great to use, if you use a selfhosted wordpress blog you can lots of great plugins to help you with your SEO.  I like the point2 for the hand shake aspect. being able to promote your listings on other agents sites and being able to have lots of listing on your own.

If you want results..I'd do my own.  Even in a lousy market we are still generating business, referrals and qualified leads.  It all depaned in what you are looking for.  Do you want to supplement your current business, do you what to have the Internet as your primary business...?

Steven - Do you use the mls.ca 'property search' reciprocity features which are available to all realtors on the MLS system. Real estate Webmasters and Uberto have website themes allow search for all mls listings in the mls.ca database?

Jim - Can you elaborate what you mean by 'do my own'? Is wordpress a good platform for a do-it-yourself real estate website? I started out with 'site-built-it' which cost $399 a year including hosting, SEO optimization, site traffic analysis, etc. I am due to renew my yearly hosting or move the domain to a different host.

I use www.esosoft.com . in 5+ years I have not had any issues with them. My site and email runs perfectly.

If you use WordPress on your own hosted site, you can make the site static by using Pages for your content. There's a static page plugin that keeps your home page at the forefront. Then for your blog portion you can use the Posts. Use All-In-One-SEO to optimize the pages and the Analytics plugin to add that. I recently made a static site with WP and it turned out great.

Konnie - Is your site http://www.konniemac.com/ a Point 2 theme site? Can your use "key-word" tags on your Point 2 site for top Google search ranking?

Phil - Beside great hosting and support from esosoft.com, are you able to blog on your site. I am looking for something I can build and have features as seen on The Real Estate Tomato

Kay - Can you point me to your Wordpress site that you use "static pages" for content. This is what I like to do and I like to keep my "navigation bar" for static pages on my left as in the "traditional website" and align my "blog rolls, blog resources, tags and blog achieve" to the right side of my webpage.

Sure - it's at http://www.get-lifelock.com. I'll be setting up most of my sites this way in the future. The location of the various parts of your site depend on the template you choose.

I highly recommend webagent solutions.  They developed and host my website.  I got a lot of flexibility in the design and added features.  The leads the site has generated have been great.  Email me if you would like more info and contact info.
